Logo Policy

The Great Allegheny Passage logo is a registered trademark of the Allegheny Trail Alliance (ATA), a coalition of seven trail organizations developing and promoting the Great Allegheny Passage, the trail system connecting Cumberland MD, and the C&O Canal Towpath to Pittsburgh, PA and the Montour Trail, which connects the Passage to the Pittsburgh International Airport. The seven organizations are: Friends of the Riverfront; Steel Valley Trail Council; the Regional Trail Corporation; Ohiopyle State Park; Somerset County Rails to Trails Association; Allegheny Highlands Trails Maryland; and the Montour Trail Council.

The ATA encourages its member trail organizations to use the logo and the ATA will grant permission to our seven founding trail organizations to use this logo without charge, provided they follow the guidelines in Section I below. All other individuals, corporations, and organizations must follow the provisions in Section II for any use of the logo and a fee for use will be assessed. Failure to follow the provisions in Section II or use of the logo without prior express written permission of the ATA and payment of required fees may result in civil liability, including penalties, legal fees and costs.

The ATA reserves the right to develop publications and products that feature the Great Allegheny Passage logo. The above listed Member Trail Organizations may use the logo for publications and products, however, ATA requires that, prior to publication or product development, Member Trail Organizations submit in writing or by e-mail the proposed design for and receive written approval from ATA. This permission will be valid for a period of two years, after which it must be renewed if continued use is desired. Oral requests will not be approved. Approval must be obtained in writing prior to publication. ATA will make every effort to supply said approval promptly and will not unreasonably delay delivery of said approval.
